Widemouth Bay

Widemouth Bay is located on the North Cornwall coast. What a joy to be with lovely relatives and explore a new beach! It is amazing area with the most incredible rock formations. I love it!

To be more precise these Bude formations are chevron folding multi-layer stacks of sandstone and shale.

New work

Spring is upon us and next time I will show some new colour work that I have been doing but I could not resist my dark side.

New hopes

2010 is upon us all and I hope it will be a great year. I am getting off to a positive start after such an amazing 2009. I have some new photographs (please see very small selection below) and am getting myself prepared for more hard work creating new etchings.

Art & Democracy at Gallery H in New York

I am over the moon to be one of the 40 artists picked to show their work in the exhibition ART & DEMOCRACY.

Twenty years have passed since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the protests and murders at Tiananmen Square.

‘Berlin Crosses’ is an etching of the Berlin Wall Memorial. I made this work in 2005, and it has always haunted me. Though I didn’t know it at the time, history has added layers of ironic significance. A little while later I discovered, to my dismay, that the memorial was to be torn down. The memorial had never been ‘official’ but had grown organically from people’s desire to memorialise history. I wanted the starkness of very black crosses and a white ethereal background. The near crosses are explicit but further back they merge into a black mass.

If you are in or around New York this autumn please stop by. The exhibit will run from October 8 through December 31, 2009.
